Silver Jeans Style Wars: Day 2

It's my second day rocking Silver Jeans as part of the Style Wars challenge, and I could really get used to this! Seriously, these jeans are so comfortable. For my second post I decided to style their Sam Boyfriend Jeans ($85.00) with a few new pieces in my wardrobe.

I had been looking for a mixed leather/cargo jacket since last season but couldn't find one just perfect for me, until I stumbled on this one at H&M a few week ago. I blogged about it here in my LBS in LA post as well. It's my new favorite piece of outerwear.

It goes really well with pretty much anything. I love how it looks with cropped boyfriend jeans and heels.

I scored these heels on sale at Zara about a month ago. Couldn't wait to put them on!

Can't wait to rock these in the spring with a super cute tailored dress. I love that they're neutrals with a pop of color.

For my handbag, I pulled out an oldie but a goodie. My vintage Coach Willis Bag ($298). I wore my street vendor bangles, my Michael Kors watch and Crown Midi Rings by TNEMNRODA ($30).

Ok guys, you know what to do! Head over to the Silver Jeans Facebook Page and vote for Team East Coast (including me!) Just 'like' our photos on the Facebook page to cast your vote. Also, stay tuned! Tomorrow I'm giving away a pair of Silver Jeans to one of you lovelies. Can't wait!

LoveBrownSugar Chic: NYFW Day 2

Yesterday for my daily rounds at NY Fashion Week, I rocked a printed dress that I recently snagged at the thrift. Definitely one of my best finds in a while, so I had to show it off plus it's comfortable (necessary considering all the running around I did):

LoveBrownSugar Chic: Backyardigan

There's something about a floral romper that makes me giddy. You may have seen me sporting one here and in one of my very first street style posts ever - here.

LoveBrownSugar Chic: Black Butterfly

Who says curvy girls can't wear cropped tops? Slide a hig-waisted maxi skirt underneath and achieve the same look sans the apprehension.

Found this butterfly top at H&M a few months ago and I have been dying to wear it ever since.

Funky nails to accompany my funky 'fit. I've fallen in love with these Sally Hansen Salon Effects nail appliques. They're the bees knees, seriously. Look out for my "How-To" post on that coming soon!

Finally got a chance to break out my Julian Louie for Aldo wedges! See my post [HERE] about the launch party. These make me melt. They're the Deanna style. I'm wearing them with everything I can this summer...

LoveBrownSugar Chic: Over the Hills

So it's been a long while since I've done a style post. December has been super hectic and cold...to say the least. Photoshoots just aren't as fun in sub zero temperatures. Summer, I miss you. But with a little sunlight, and a warm fur...all is right with the world...

So the symbolism in this photoshoot (there's always symbolism with me) is that these hills were pretty representative of my 2010. There were highs, lows and a slew of unpredictable, and sometimes unwanted fluctuations. Each day had its lesson and each lesson became a building block in my personal foundation...

I learned alot about forging my own paths and drawing my own conclusions. In 2011 I'm leaving behind all the judgments that people will inevitably have about me and of my life decisions. You can't sit around contemplating life. Your time is better spent just living it...
So I'm not usually one of those corny folk who quote rap lyrics in their blog posts but, as Drake would say "Everybody dies but not everybody lives". So don't waste your time these next few weeks plotting out New Year's resolutions you'll inevitably break or lose sight of by March. Set actionable goals and see where life takes you. If you wrap yourself up too much in the detail, you delay your destiny...

One of the greatest things about struggling to get over a hill is the moment you're on top. You see everything clearer. You feel a sense of accomplishment. And most important, you've learned what it takes to get to the top of the hill. So that if you ever end up at the bottom again, you have no problem getting back to the top.

I like to think of this little pumpkin as my future; bright, colorful and right in the palm of my hands.
