LBS Beauty: Unlock Your Softer Side With Suave

If you know my beauty regimen, you know that I'm no stranger to drugstore beauty and affordable products. Though I love my luxury staples as well, there are quite a few brands on the market that combine quality with affordability. Suave is one of those brands and I've always been a fan of their products. Everything from using their conditioner to co-wash my hair when I first went natural, to using their body washes and lotions that do the job just as well as pricier brands.
So once I found out that TV hostess, personality and homegirl-in-my-head Wendy Williams was taking the challenge to unlock her "softer" side with Suave, I had to find out what the hooplah was all about. If you guys know Wendy, you know "soft" is not typically a word used to describe her. Ever since her radio days, she's been the hostess to say exactly what was on her mind, regardless of who was listening or who didn't like her. Because I think she's hilarious, and she actually gives really great hair & beauty advice on her talk show, I knew her partnership with Suave totally made sense.

I decided to take the challenge to "unlock my softer side" as well and give a few of Suave's moisturizers and body washes a test run for a week. My skin tends to get dry year-round, from winter to summer so moisture and softness is really important in maintaining my look when I step out on the NYC streets. I picked up two different moisturizers from Suave - the Suave® Skin Solutions Smoothing Body Lotion with Cocoa Butter & Shea (two of my fave ingredients) and the Suave® Skin Solutions Advanced Therapy Body Lotion.

I used the Smoothing lotion to help maintain my skin and make it smooth to the touch before heading out. I love how rich it is as a moisturizer for day, and I also love the cocoa butter smell - yum!

At night, before bed, I smoothed on the Advanced Therapy collection. It has a fresh crisp smell, and was really effective at relieving dry skin. I like to use heavier moisturizers at night before bed to allow them to soak into my skin overnight. I wake up with super soft skin and I always feel like it helps improve the overall condition of my skin.

I also gave their Suave® Naturals Sweet Pea & Violet Body Wash a try. It smells amazing, and lathers really well. You can use it double duty and poor a little in under running water for a nice moisturizing bubble bath too.

Each product has its own unique benefits. After taking the challenge, I stand by my love for Suave as a really great alternative to higher-priced products because it actually works. You shouldn't have to splurge on key products like moisturizer and body wash when companies like Suave offer affordable options. Beauty on a budget, for real. Love it!

LBS Runway Report: The Heart's Truth Red Dress Collection 2013

Credit: InStyle.com

On the evening of Wednesday, February 6th, LBS had the pleasure of attending The Heart Truth Red Dress Collection Show at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC, where we were amongst a sea of red dresses, lips, shoes, handbags and even red hair in support of the fight against heart disease. The Heart Truth campaign is sponsored by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute. We blogged about National Wear Red Day last Friday, in support of The Heart Truth's mission to spread heart health awareness.

The show consisted of a plethora of stars including Toni Braxton, Wendy Williams, Kelly Osbourne, Gabby Douglas, Roselyn Sanchez, Minka Kelly, Kris Jenner, Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner to name a few. Designers of the striking dresses included a few of our favorite designers: Oscar de la Renta, Tadashi Shoji, Herve L. Leroux, Marc Bouwer, Carolina Herrera and Nicole Miller.

The energy in the room was at an all-time high as the lights dimmed and the show promoting heart health for all women began.

Front-rowers included the amazing Mr. Jay Manuel, runway coach extraordinaire Ms. Jay Alexander, and stylist to the stars June Ambrose, and songstress/reality star Adrienne Bailon.

The Jenners were in attendance! Kris, Kendall and Kylie Jenner walked the runway, all dressed in Badgley Mischka and might I add - Kendall worked it out on that runway!

My fellow Brit, Kelly Osbourne rocked the runway with her glorious lavender hair and tattoos on display, dressed in this slinky strapless Zac Posen.

Toni Braxton was most definitely my star of the night as I am aware of her battle with heart disease and have been a lover of her music since forever! I was excited to see her honored by closing the show. She beamed down the runway and worked it out in this stunning Herve L. Leroux red dress.

Doesn’t she look amazing?!

Daytime Emmys: Fashion Countdown

The 36th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards took place yesterday at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angelels. Well you all know how I do! I've seen the outfits and made an assessment of my Top 8 Best & Worst. Here they are:

8. BEST

Tyra Banks in Rachel Roy

Although I wish Tyra had put a little something extra on her neckline to complement this coral dress, I do adore the one-shoulder style and the color looks great on her. I would've opted for a dressier shoe as well. These pumps are better suited for the office.

7. WORST

Wendy Williams in Marc Bower

Although I LOVE the color and the cinched waist of this dress, it's doing NOTHING for her boobs! I'm all about accentuating your assests and all, but this is TOO much. A severely cinched waist only makes for larger-appearing boobs. Wendy, wendy...tone that down. More fab, less drag!

6. BEST

Jenny Garth in Issa

I love how she's channeling the old Holywood look with the wavy hair and simple yet elegant lines of the gown....very pretty.

5. WORST

Tatyana Ali

So this silhouette looks great on Tatynana Ali, however this print right here isn't doing anything for me. Are those eyes peering at me?? Too much going on...

4. BEST

Nadia Bjorlin

This dress is sultry yet still sophisticated. Clearly not for the faint of heart. I love the emphasis on the jeweled neckline. And the draping jewels at the back? Nice touch.

3. WORST

Me no likey...it looks like she took the bottom part of this gown straight from her grandmother's old couch. It might have been more tolerable as a cocktail dress. But I'm not a fan of this print...

2. BEST

Lara Spencer

I really love the detailing in the ruffled shoulder and the red waist belt. This dress fits really well and she didn't overdo it with hair or accessories. Well done Lara.

1. WORST

Kate Linder

Hmmm....I think this one speaks for itself. MESS!

Plain Jane...I mean Wendy

Scenario: You're a huge radio personality. You just chartered your own Talk Show to be broadcast on a HUGE network. You want it to be absolutely fabulous because now people get to SEE you, and not just HEAR you. You want to draw people in to watch your show's premiere. You wear this??

A slouchy yellow tank that only emphasizes your also-slouchy boobs, dark jeans and a bad weave? Umm, Wendy, "How YOU doing", because this is not cute....
