Kickin' It: Layla Joy Press Luncheon

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of attending a press luncheon for new shoe line Layla Joy. A line of shoes focused on providing style mixed with timeless appeal and affordability, I knew I couldn't pass up the opportunity to check it out. Chic + Affordable = My Life Philosophy so I was in there like swimwear.

The designer behind the brand, Layla-joy Williams is one of very few African-American shoe designers in the industry. She's worked with huge names and has really made her mark, and now she's branching off to produce a brand all her own. Below she describes the concept behind her brainchild:
"The Layla-joy brand was born out of a dilemma we all seemed to face: How to find well-priced transitional pieces that could move from season to season and from day to night and are comfortable wherever we are…"..
Instantly I fell in love with the above Charlotte ($120) espadrilles. I had been meaning to get my hands on a pair of these It-shoes for the summer, so when I laid my eyes on them, it was love at first sight! I absolutely love the suede, the caged detailing and the fact that they tie up the leg!

Obvi, I fell in love. Layla Joy was nice enough to gift each guest a pair and I ended up requesting these in my size.

I'm a platform-junkie so I was drawn to these amazing open toe Jade($120) platforms Layla Joy has. They're super comfy and they go with pretty much every day to night ensemble.

These Kira ($120) espadrilles came in as a close second to the ones I chose. So comfy and versatile.I love the leather detailing and the open heel on these. My buddy Danielle from The Style and Beauty Doctor went home with a pair of these.

Here's me and Danielle at Oficina Latina for the event. Had a blast hanging with her.

And can I say the latin fare at Oficina Latina NYC was AMAZE? If you're ever in Nolita for a day trip, please check them out. The Arroz con Camarones (left) and the Tostones (right) gave me foodgasms. Yum!

All in all, I had an amazing time. I must send a special thanks to Renae Bluitt of In Her Shoes blog for alerting me to this amazing new line. You should definitely check out Layla Joy shoes. She's offering trendy, versatile designs in comfortable silhouettes and pretty great prices. Can't beat that!
