LoveBrownSugar Chic: Airing The Laundry

So I finally have a real winter coat. Yes, it took me until Christmas to buy a winter coat that wasn't paper thin. Though I've had some good times with my Zara cape, it doesn't keep me warm at night. No, it literally doesn't keep me warm at night. So, I hightailed it to Burlington Coat Factory and picked up this Laundry by Shelli Segal beauty.

It's warm, it's a great neutral color that matches with everything, and it has a fur collar. Three must-haves that were on my check list.  It also saves enough room for layering. Here I paired it with a polka dot top from H&M and my Suki Jeggings ($89.00) from Silver Jeans.

It's easy for your ensemble to look drab and boring when you're piling on neutral colors. I keep it fresh by adding pops of color in with my accessories.

These sneaker wedges have been collecting dust in my shoe corner for a few months now. They've finally made their debut.

I'm in love with them. Scored them at H&M!

I'm not usually a hat girl, but I've gotten more into them this season. It's hard getting these curls under anything honestly.

Coat: Laundry by Shelli Segal (similar) | Top: H&M (similar) | Jeans c/o Silver Jeans | Sneakers: H&M (similar) | Bag: Urban Outfitters | Bangles: Street Vendor | Watch c/o Ice Watch | Necklace c/o Stella & Dot | Ring: Yumnah Najah | Cap: Street Vendor

I'll have a beauty post up later this week highlighting the beauty products I used in this post as well so stay tuned.

LBS Fashion: Ice Watch Arm Candy

Like I mentioned yesterday in my Instaweek post, the lovely folks at Ice-Watch were nice enough to gift me with a brand new watch from their signature Sili Forever collection for me to test drive. This is their first time premiering in the US and they're really coming in with a bang, debuting their line at Macy's department stores.

When it comes to fine jewelry and watches, I'm more of a classic girl. I stick to styles that are very basic in finishes like gold and silver. After all, I wear one every day! But when I saw the super cute collection of Ice-Watches that come in fun punchy colors like yellow, blue, pink, and purple, I couldn't resist. There's nothing like a bright-colored accessory to give your winter wardrobe a kick.

First, let's start with the cute packaging. Is this not adorbs?! It's like a LEGO piece. They all come in this packaging so that as you amass more colors, you can stack them up like LEGO pieces. So cute! In addition, the box doubles as a piggy bank with the slit at the top (trust me, its currently collecting couch quarters - tryna save up for a house, y'all.)

Here are three different ways I wore my Yellow Sili Forever Ice-Watch (Macys.com, $99.00):

1. The Ice Stands Alone: The classic way to wear a watch, allowing it to make a statement all on it's own.

2. The Arm Party: Arm parties are all the rage. Ice-Watch is a great guest for mine.

It adds a nice pop of color to the wrist and it goes with so many different bangles in my arsenal.

3. The Double Whammy: That's right. Not one, but TWO watches. Why? Because I can.

What I love about the watch overall is that it's not super bulky or flashy. It's subtle enough for everyday wear, but still allows you to make a bold statement with color.

How would you rock your Ice-Watch?

To purchase an Ice-Watch of your own, check them out at Macys.com and in-store at Macy's Department stores across the US!

Instaweek 1.7.13

It's my first Instaweek of 2013! *tootsie rolls* I don't know about you guys but 2013 is off to an amazing start for me. Something in the air says this year is going to be spectactular. I started off this 2013 with a little bit of reminiscing, a bit of forward-thinking, and self-reflection. I also started off the year partying! Woot woot - remember my NYE 2013 party look? Yep, best way to ring in the new year.

New Experiences
When I look back on my personal history, the things that have brought me most joy in the past were experiences that were somehow 'new' to me. Like my very first NY Yankee game (pictured above, middle right) or my first trip to Paris (top middle) or my first time cooking a meal all by myself. So that's what I'm declaring 2013. The year of the "new". You only live once (I'm not using the Drake acronym. I refuse). And new experiences keep you young, vibrant and loving life.

Ice Princess
I like things that sparkle. I also like things with bright colors. Yep, like a little kid that will never change. The folks at Ice Watch were nice enough to gift me with one of their amazing watches in yellow. Stay tuned for a post on that this week.

Winter Goods
Confession: I hate old man winter. As a half-island gyal (my dad's from Jamaica mon!) I think I am genetically averse to all cold weather. It makes me crazy. The only respite I get from this cold weather is the fact that I get to wear cool winter capes like this one and that I get to wear layers and plum lipstick. That makes it a little better...just a little.

How was your week? What are you looking forward to this year?
