  2. I wonder if she feels that way because she had to work so hard for the weight loss but the oscar came very unexpectedly. She hadn't set out to be a great oscar winning actress, it just kind of happened, so I could see where she'd feel more of a sense of accomplishment from the weight loss since it's dramatic loss AND she set out to do it, had to work very hard to achieve it

  3. I don't understand why her being proud of her weight loss when she previously overweight is questionable.
    Being overweight IS unhealthy.
    Being underweight IS unhealthy.
She is not underweight, I'm glad to see more women of color realizing that we need to stop lying and promoting the culture of "overweight acceptance" and maybe we won't have higher rates of sickness and disease than other women.

    Seriously.

  5. @Anon I see your point but I don't completely agree. Overweight does not always equal unhealthy. In fact I've seen petite women who are considered "ideal weight" who were completely out of shape. And I've seen curvy women who could run/swim/jump/jog faster than the average. So I don't necessarily think the weight issue is so one dimensional.

However I do agree that health should be at the forefront of all life's decisions. I love that she's healthier now but I also come from the point of view that you don't have to be skinny or traditional size to be happy.
