LoveBrownSugar Chic: Long Walk

I've always been leggy. In elementary school, I was always the last person in line when we arranged ourselves in size order. I was always the girl assigned to shut off the lights when the class left the room and it was very rare that someone else trailed behind me. So growing up, I've always had a love/hate relationship with my legs.

Considering I spent my childhood summers scraping my knees on NYC concrete, and fending off uncontrollable mosquito bites in the bushes of my backyard - it's safe to say you won't catch me in one of those Nair commercials any time soon. But with age comes maturity, and I've learned to accept them - flaws and all.

I'm ok with my cellulite, my stretch marks, my dimples & scars...

  6. my stomach, and my arms. I do feel like its one thing to have an insecurity and accept it, its a nother thing to know that you shouldnt have something out and letting it out just to prove a point. I know that my stomach do not need to be hanging out, but i have come to terms and acceptance of it lol.

  7. I love this post. The photos are beautiful! I have issues with every once of my body, given the day of the week, lol but like you said, with age and maturity I realize that you can't sweat these things - there is way more to life! Way more, and you are missing it, caring about what others may think.

  11. YES!!! you were always tall, even back in our Daybreak after school program days lol. Me being 5'4 i always envied long legs but just as you said, its important to learn to love it and flaunt it..what you feel is a flaw is always going to be someone else's desire

  13. I'm late, but I just came across your blog today and LOVE LOVE LOVE this post!! I struggled for YEARS loving my long legs. I'm 5'11" and have ALWAYS been tall. Now 28, it wasn't until my sophomore year of college that I learned to embrace them and now I love them! :) Loving your blog and your awesome/beautiful legs!!!

  14. I'm still struggling with my arms. If not for the insane, sticky-ass, humidified weather the DC area experienced this summer, I will still be rocking a light weight cardigan over my sleeveless dresses. But one (hot) fine Sunday, I had enough. I had to rock my bare arms. I was terrified. But something funny happened, I began to get used to it. Little by little, though.

  15. I did a similar post recently where I wore my Khaki shorts and leopard heels and I talk about being ok with my "non commercial" legs!

Here is the link to it!
