LBS Fashion News: Isabel Marant for H&M Collection

Breathe, stretch and get prepared for another sold-out designer H&M collection. Designer extraordinaire, Isabel Marant, has partnered with the fab retailer to produce a winter collection for women and men. Yes, men will be included in an H&M special collection for the first time. Yes H&M. Yes.

Marant, who’s been an in-demand clothing savant since ’94, is toting a chic collection that serves her signature Bohemian/gritty/androgynous aesthetic. Are you pumped? I certainly am.
Obsessed fashion fiends have six months to pinch their pennies and prepare for the clothing flood sure to ensue. H&M is being mum on the details. We don’t even have pics, prices or sketches of the digs yet, but if classic Marant shows up – there’s no doubt I’ll be buying.

The Parisian fashion goddess has slayed runways at Paris Fashion Week season after season, premiering collections that are simple enough to wear to the park or a spontaneous date to a bookstore.

Flowing silhouettes and untraditional hems are Marant’s trademarks. Her layering techniques will work in winter. We’re eager to see what Marant produces. She promises to deliver.

“I aim at creating something real – something women want to wear in their everyday lives – with a certain carefree style,” she said. “I think this is very Parisian: You dress up, but don’t pay too much attention to it, and you still look sexy. The collection is infused with this kind of easiness and attitude. Everything can be combined following one’s own instincts, and my take on fashion is all about personality.”

I’m too ready for this collection. It will be released to 250 stores and sold. I’d drive the three hours to the closest H&M for this one, but thankfully it’s being sold online as well. Sign on at 11:59 p.m. November 13 to get the leverage on the Isabel Marant collection. I think it’s going to sell-out quickly.

LoveBrownSugar Chic: Westside Safari

I took a trip to my local H&M recently and stumbled on this tunic for $4.95. At first I thought it was too good to be true. Nothing worth having is $4.95 anymore. But upon trying it on, I fell in love.

I really love the high-low construction of it, as well as the waist tie. That was thoughtful, considering without the waste tie it can turn into a boxy piece of fabric that won't give me any shape.

The tie helps accentuate my waist, and turns it into a mini-dress as opposed to a simple tunic.

The pattern is really what caught my eye. Once I tried it on, I realized how versatile a piece like this can be. You can take it casual with a pair of flats, or a little dressier with heels.

And for chilly evenings, you can easily slap a sweater or a leather jacket on top.

I paired this look with my red Zara heels (wore them here). They look good with everything, seriously.

My crochet cross-body bag is from H&M as well. It was my go-to when I went to Cali for Coachella.

LoveBrownSugar Chic: Parking Lot Pocahontas

The weather's been unbelievably beautiful in NYC this week. So I decided to celebrate with a mini dress and fun accessories.

Most people think graffiti is dirty, but I actually think it gives the city character. Graffiti-covered walls are my favorite backdrop for shoots.

I paired this LOFT Tiered Lace Dress ($98) with my favorite bright-colored accessories for a fun spring/summer look.

This Bongo Neon pink crossbody bag I scored at the Kmart Fashion Remix Challenge. I paired the outfit with my new turquoise Minnetonka flats (similar here).

I'm obsessed with super long finger rings. I scored the one above at H&M for only $9.95.

This statement necklace is from H&M as well. RiRi Woo is on the lips!

LoveBrownSugar Chic: NYFW Spring 2013 Day 2

For Day 2 at NYFW, I had less running around to do so I opted for a dressier look.

I've had this leather dress from H&M for a few season now but I barely bring it out. So I decided to give it another debut this season.

On the right are my new favorite pieces c/o Stella & Dot jewelry. I wore these at my 3 Year Anniversary Celebration as well. They just go with everything!

And these MIA Shoes I wore in my Rainbows Dreams outfit post. I love them - they're statement pieces but still comfortable to trek the NYC streets in.

LoveBrownSugar Chic: NYFW S/S 2013 Day 1

Sigh. This week has been so busy I haven't even had a chance to take outfit photos. The horror! Here's a quick glimpse of my outfit if choice for Day 1 of NYFW:

I rocked this outfit because A) It was functional (chunky wedges are NECESSARY during NYFW and especially during Fashion's Night Out) and b) I don't normally mix prints. So instead of playing it safe, I thought I would set the bar high for day one and try something new. At the prodding of my buddy Jessica of Glamazons Blog, I decided to pair polka dots, lace, leopard and quilted leather "at the same damn time." C) I LOVE this backpack. I live in it. Shoutout to my school days!

Top: Forever 21 (only $20!) | Shorts: H&M (similar here) | Shoes: Forever 21 | Bag: Forever 21 | Necklace c/o Stella & Dot | Snake Cuff: H&M | Ring: Street Vendor

Thoughts? Would you try mixing prints?

LoveBrownSugar Chic: Rainbow Dreams & Back Alleys

Today is a great day for me. This weekend will officially end the summer season. Last night I threw an end-of-summer bash for LoveBrownSugar's 3 Year Anniversary that will go down in the history books. And I'm officially done with my Whole 30 program. I'm on cloud 9 until further notice.

ASOS has been serving me well all summer. That's where I snagged this beauty. It's also where I snagged the dress I wore to my Anniversary party.

The shoes I snatched up as soon as I saw them laying in the clearance isle at TJ Maxx. They're from MIA and they are perfection. Cute and comfortable - best combination ever.

LoveBrownSugar Chic: Parkside Polka

This is another summer oldie that I pulled out of hiding. I normally shy away from polka dots because they've been rumored to draw attraction to curves (kind of like stripes) but with a figure flattering silhouette and a great heel, they really work!

You guys know I adore anything with Navajo print. I picked up this amazing little sack on my trip to Ecuador last October.

Invited my favorite snake charmer from Stella & Dot to my arm party.

News: Maison Martin Margiela x H&M Collaboration

High-fashion lovers, your prayers have been answered once again by H&M. French fashion house Maison Martin Margiela is creating a collection in collaboration with H&M that will be released on November 15th in select stores across the world.

MMM is a French fashion house created in 1988 that has always followed its own path, toying with fashion norms and using deconstruction and transformation to create new staples. Some of you die-hard Kanye stans may have heard the fashion-forward lyricist rhyming about MMM before. The line always features clean lines, lots of architectural structure and texture. Excited to see what they come up with. Even more excited for the star-studded premiere event that's sure to come.

Take a look at the Maison Martin Margiela x H&M preview video below:

'Fit Room Flicks: H&M September '10 Lineup

Sales people are evil. Sometimes you really just need some good friends by your side to let you know what pieces work and what outfits need to stay on the rack. Sadly though, you don't always have your best buds with you on impromptu shopping trips.  Next best thing to a good friend? A digital camera. So I can share all these looks with you loves! And you can tell me what looks good, and what looks a hot damn mess...
From left: Striped top, $14.95. Army green tunic, $24.95, Striped oxford, $24.95
So the first top on the left was super comfy and I really did love the stripes. I know I can be "bland betty" sometimes and stick to the neutral colors, but my turquoise chain really popped against the black and white. And at $15, what a steal! The tunic in the middle stood out to me for it's mesh detailing on the shoulders and front pocket. I'm also in love with army green now - big trend for fall 2010! And the oxford on the right was my fave. It had the perfect fit, went well those fitted slacks I tried on and it was just "me".

So I bought it! I plan on tucking it into some boyfriend jeans with bright colored jewelry and tall wedges.

From left: Cinched dress, $29.99, Lace shoulder dress, $29.99, Red tiered cocktail dress, $39.99
I tried on a few fall dresses as well, but I wasn't super stoked about any.of these. The cinched dress on the far left was a cute neutral piece; a good basic to layer with scarves, tights, fringe vests and other goodies for the season. I'm a sucker for lace, so the tunic in the middle had me at hello. But something about the draping didn't sit right with me so I left it hanging. And with the red dress, I really loved the color but it was kind of flat on me. I'd have to really spruce up the accessories on this one.

Attention: images of the following dress may cause tears of joy...(At least it did for me)
Above: Cocktail dress, $49.95
Cue the Carl Thomas ballad, "It was...love at first sight....I know...from the way she looked at me"

I.Am.In.Love. It doesn't happen that often but when it does, I don't question it. I think with my heart, run to the cash register and purchase! Absolutely in love with this dress and it's versatility. It's 3/4 length, shorter in back than in front and if I wanted I could easily tuck the straps in or pin up the sides for a different look!

What do you guys think about my final choices? Yayy or nayy?
