"As a curvy fashionista, I always look for pieces that accentuate my positive points and won't make me uncomfortable. In the fall/winter, I tend to live in black leggings and standout blazers/tops, but come summer it's all about the one-piece! This summer in particular, I'm really into rompers and floral prints. I'm also loving printed mini-skirts with pockets. I throw a black or white tank underneath and my favorite flats, and I'm good to go. In general, the best piece of advice I can give to all curvy fashionistas out there, is to wear confidence with every outfit. It's my absolute favorite accessory. After all, when you look good you feel good, and vice versa!"

Spring Fashion Trends: Milk & Honey

 So I haven't done any shameless promotion on here in a while. Ever so often I like to pop in and let you guys know what I'm up to over at Honey. This week I had the privilege of compiling Honey's spring fashion trend story. A major privilege for me. I'm honored. Check out our spring fashion editorial affectionately entitled "Milk & Honey"...

 Stay on trend with a little Honey flavor. Leisure suits were huge on the Spring 2010 runways from Richard Chai to Adam and 3.1 Phillip Lim. Stay on trend with a neutral bottom, but give the look a tribal twist and rock a printed blazer up top.

  Continue the printed trend with another popular silhouette for 2010 – the cropped jumper (left above). Seen on the runways of Honey faves like Charlotte Ronson, Marc Jacobs and DKNY, the cropped jumper carries effortless chic appeal. Add a leather jacket and straw fedora for good measure. Not only is the maxi dress flattering for almost all shapes and sizes, a delicately tailored vest on top adds menswear-inspired edge.

Accessories are everything. Quickly take a plain oxford and cutoffs look into a Hollywood- ready ensemble with over-sized shades and a patterned scarf up top (below right). Never underestimate the power of a statement piece. Bold boyfriend blazers in painted prints give life to an understated ensemble (below left).

Ripped jeans are not only a Honey fave around the office, they are a huge trend this season. Adding bright pops of color to a light colored pair makes an even sweeter impact...

I don't know about you guys, but I absolutely LOVE to see when things I've helped to create or mold go on to being even bigger and better after I leave. I've always been a fashion addict, and much of my precious time in college was spent as Senior Fashion editor of UPenn's first and only fashion magazine - The WALK. I started out as an assistant fashion editor on the founding staff in 2006, then went on spending the rest of my college years as a Senior Fashion editor. It was my pride and joy and I absolutely loved it...

We grew from begging boutiques to let us borrow clothes, to being a well-known fashion journalism presence in Philadelphia. Many boutique connects and slaved-over issues later, we're like the Vogue of Philly! Anyway, just as the publishing industry has evolved from being a mainly print-based industry to being web-based and blog heavy, so has the illustrious WALK Magazine. Please pay a visit to my alma mater's site, TheWalkMagazine.com (especially if you're philly-based or visit often)...

They've got fashion updates, sale alerts, and you can even view a digital copy of their latest print issue. This magazine changed my life and gave me the background experience I needed to really pave my way in the industry. Just goes to show how hard work and dedication ALWAYS pays off...

All I Want For My Birthday...

Hey all! It's my birthday and I'm happily turning 21...again (lol)! All I want for my birthday is to be FAB for life. In my work, my hobbies, my relationships, love and especially on LoveBrownSugar. I hope you're down to take the ride with me - much love and thanks for all the birthday wishes!
