LBS Beauty Review: Sally Hansen Salon Effects

Ladies, meet my newest love affair. I'm cheating on nail polish with Sally Hansen Salon Effects nail appliques. Yeah, I said it.It's official. They're my undercover lovers. Here's why...

1. Easy Application: So at first glance the Sally Hansen Salon Effects might look a tad complicated, but they're really super simple to apply. All you need to do is follow the directions on the package. Below I outlined my process and a few good tips for making them last.

The first step is a no brainer. Take all the package contens out so you can see what you're working with. The packet comes equipped with 8 nail strips for each hand (so you can choose which ones fit your nail bed), a nail file, wooden stick and instructions. So here's what I do...
1. Start with clean nails. 2.Find the perfect nail strip match for each of your fingers and set them aside 3. Smooth nail strip onto nail bed in downward motion.

Tip: Starting off with squeaky clean nails can guarantee the nail strips won't chip or slide off as easily. Before I begin, I wipe down each nail bed with polish remover to rid them of excess oils.

4. File off excess nail strip with nail file. 5. Peel off excess and smooth bottom edge of nail strip onto nail tip. 6. Final product should look like this.
2. They last! I've been faithfully using these Sally Hansen Salon Effects for almost two month now, and I'm always SO pleased with the results. My nail strips last anywhere from 5-10 days without chipping, even through washing dishes, heavy duty typing, etc

.
3. Tons of variety. Sally Hansen Salon Effects has over 25 different nail prints and growing. You can find a color or print to match every mood. And at less than $10 a pop, you can change them every few days if that's your thing. See below for some of my personal faves.

Sally Hansen Salon Effects are available at select pharmacies nationwide including Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid & more. They're also available at Target and Walmart. Give them a try! You'll be pleasantly surprised.

  1. I have been using the salon effects for a few months now and I really like them. I have on the lace pattern now. I did learn one thing, if you take the design off the plastic and don't use it immediately, it will start to crumble when you try to use it.

  5. I've tried them and they rock. They seem to be hot thang for the teachers at my school site. I have the lace ones I was planning to do today but ended up polishing my nails instead. I usually look for them.at Walgreens on a BOGO 50% off.

  17. I tried the lace ones for a event i went to in May. They were nice. Had my co-worker put them on for me (she wears them as well) and the application was very easy. I got mine for $8.00 at Target. I dont think i will wear them for every day use but more so for special occasions. I still prefer the versitility of changing my paint color whenever i feel inspired.

  18. I just read on the sally hansen website they are discontinuing this product in stores on July 31st. I am not sure if that means you can get them online only but in stores you won't be able to. What a bummer!
