LBS Fashion & Beauty Highlights: NAACP Image Awards

The NAACP Image Awards that aired this past Friday included some notable awards, celebrity appearances and of course fashions. One trend I noticed on a number of our fave diva celebs was the hair switcheroo - new 'dos were spotted on the red carpet for sure. Other than that, the ladies & gents of Hollywood were out in full effect dressed to the tee. Soundoff! Fierce or Foolish:

I had grown so used to "Miss Keri Baby" with her cropped side-swept cut and honey blond streaks. This time around she's giving us dark and lovely from head to toe. What do you think about Keri Hilson's switch? I almost miss the short edgy look...

Gabrielle Union was spotted in her typical layers with a twist. She's opted for some light brown highlights to switch up her look. I love the hair but not a fan of the dress so much...

This was my first time seeing Raven Symone in her new shorter cut. I have to say it's a refreshing change. I think she wears the jet black well. I want to see some color in her outfit though. This nude palette is washing her out a bit..

Besides being madly jealous of the couple - what's not to love? Eva and Lance Gross both looked stunning on the red carpet. Although Eva looks grand, Lance might have stolen the spotlight that night. I'm loving his choice of tux. So unexpected in navy blue -yet appreciated...

I thought Tatyana Ali's look was so elegant and chic. I love the deep neckline on this. Sophisticated enough for her to present during the awards, but sultry enough to emphasize her youth and vibrance. And you know I like me some sparkles and sequins!

52nd Annual Grammy Awards: Fashion Countdown

In case you missed out on the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards last night, it was definitely a show to remember. LoveBrownSugar's twitter was on fire last night with commentary and debate over the star's Red Carpet looks. There were some we loved and others we hated. Here's the LoveBrownSugar Grammy Awards Fashion Countdown:

10. Best - Beyonce

Although I wasn't a fan of her nude Stephane Rolland red carpet look to the right, she redeemed herself during her Grammy acceptance speech with this deep-V metallic number. I know Queen Bey is curvy and all, but I'm not a fan of playing up those curves with that overly-structured silhouette. The fabric doesn't do it for me, nor does the light color against her fair skin and light hair. Agreed?

9. Worst - Snooki?

You guys might be wondering why I placed a question mark next to her name? Well, that's because I have no idea how she got invited. All I need to do is fake tan, get a reality show, some fake extensions and learn how to fist pump to get a Grammy invite?? I'll pass...

8. Best - Lady Gaga
As outlandish as Queen Gaga can be, somehow we all understand her. She's outlandish, fanatical, freakish and foolish to some. But above all, she's creative genius. By the way, her opening performance with Elton John was EPIC! Clap it up for Gaga...

7. Worst - The Situation?

Same rules apply here as for Snooki....WTF is he doing at the Grammy's? Let's forget about the fact that his nickname is "The Situation" and focus on the fact that he took his shirt off on the red carpet. Gotta love the Jersey Shore crew...

6. Best - Miley Cyrus

Although I'm not a huge fan of the teen star, I loved her Red Carpet look for the Grammys. Her minidress was chic, fitted and youn. I thought it suited her well and was age-appropriate. Showling a little leg, but not too much skin. Thumbs up, Miley...

5. Worst - Ne-Yo

So Ne-Yo's placement on my "worst" list has nothing to do with his outfit, but everything to do with the fact that he thought it was cute to bring two dates? Whaaa? I'm also not a huge fan of Jessica White's dress (on the right). Oh, Ne-Yo...it's ok, we know you're gay smh.

4. Best - Jennifer Hudson

Despite the fact that the sister can blow, she just had a baby boy and she looks absolutely gorge! She's trim, in shape and absolutely divine in all black everything. Her stylists really stepped up their game this time around, because we've seen J.Hud looking sub-par on previous occasions. Kudos, many kudos!

3. Worst - Katy Perry
This light golden color and the dark hair just don't match on this one Katy. The color completely washes her out. And she looks like a mermaid...not in a good way. Better luck next time!

2. Best - Keri Hilson
Keri looks like a dream in this gown. I love the fitted shape on her and how it elongates her already-long shape. The whole look (beauty, dress and jewels) is giving me Old Hollywood glam and I'm loving it!

1. Worst - Ciara
I'm sorry Ciara. I know you just got back from the Haute Couture shows in Paris and you must've been inspired, but this Givenchy is NOT doing it for me. Are those loose lace pants you're wearing? You need to 1,2 Step with all that...

Fashion Countdown: American Music Awards 2009

Hey lovelies!

Hope you had a great weekend and I also hope you all tuned into the American Music Awards. It was adequately entertaining, I must say. Here are my Top 10 Best & Worst:

10. WORST (Gasp! Dare I say...) - Rihanna

As much as I love Rih Rih, this was a complete miss for me. Bare bodied underneath a laser cut, voluminous gown...me no likey.

It looks like they pasted stencils on her! Her hair and makeup look FAB though...

9. BEST - J. Lo

Although I wasn't a fan of her live performance, I absolutely LOVED her cocktail dress. I'm not usually giddy over feathers, but this makes me wanna kidnap a goose and make one myself!

8. WORST - Colbie Caillat

Mmk so are you preggers? Because if not, this baby bumb is not allowed. And if so, you did NOT pick the appropriate dress for this event. It looks unfinished no?

7. BEST - Melody Thornton

This pussycat doll is on the money with this dress. Love the sequin detail on it. I wish her shoes were doing a little more for me though...

6. WORST - Paula Abdul

ZZZzzzz...what a bore. Ok the dress is not bad, but it's not doing much either. Slap a statement necklace on that! Thank you...

5. BEST - Keri Hilson

Keri would've been further down the line had her hair and makeup been a little more BAM! Keri, where are your gorgeous blond streaks?? And I need a pop of color on your face when you wear all black...almost there.

4. WORST - Leona Lewis

I'm all for the futuristic cat woman look but Leona looks like she's wearing a cinched garbage bag in this one. Sorry no bueno...cute booties though!

3. BEST - Fergie

When I saw her go up to the accept an award in this dress, I almost fainted. LOVE the studded element. We all know metal & studs are in this season. I would've loved to see this piece on Rihanna...hmmm.

2. WORST - Jermaine Jackson

This has nothing to do with fashion...he's on this list just because of that greasy shape-up...tisk tisk tisk... (more like a Sharpie-up, looks like they used black marker to line that mess)

1. BEST - Alicia Keys

I love the color and the cut of this dress, and the detailing is beautiful! I kind of wish she had long flowing locks with this dress but the "dinner bun" works fine too. Props go out to her stylist during this show because her performance outfits were on point as well!

That's all folks. Hit me up with Fierce or Foolish comments below. I welcome your opinions!!
