NYFW Kickoff: Heart Truth's Red Dress + Bar III Launch Party

On the official kickoff night to Mercedes Benz Fashion Week I had a ball attending my first show of the season, The Heart Truth’s Red Dress collection, and kicking it in the Flatiron district for the pop-up store launch of Bar III!

The Heart Truth's Red Dress collection was brimming with VIP’s front row. At the show, sponsored by Diet Coke for the national awareness campaign about heart disease for women, celebrities strutted down the aisle showing their support in red designer gowns. Among front row were the likes of celebrity stylist June Ambrose, fashion vet Jay Alexander, Jay Manuel and and fashion photog Nigel Barker.

After the show, I ran into Ms. Taraji P.Henson who walked the runway in a gorgeous sparkling Naeem Khan gown.

I skipped over to the Flatiron district right after that for the pop-up store launch of Macy’s new line Bar III. Coolest thing about the new line? The lookbook was styled and compiled by fashion bloggers.

Whoop whoop for the up and comers! Some of my favorites like the guys behind Street Etiquette (Travis pictured below), Jane Aldridge of Sea of Shoes, FeelsLikeWhiteLightning and Rumi Neeley of FashionToast were there for the pop-up store launch.

And guess who was on the 1’s and 2’s? None other than my girl Solange Knowles. Still rocking her Poetic Justice braids – love it!

Bumped into JazziMcG at the event too– love her blog! She’s so cute and petite, check out her bohemian outfit...

Had a blast with my boy Kelechi of SliceofSnob, who also happens to be an assistant buyer in the department at Macy’s that helped create this amazing line. Kudos to Macy’s, the clothes look spectacular!

  1. I like a lot of the brands Macy's carries, and it helps that they have a lot of size options too.
