Banana Republic Summer Dress Collection Preview

Last week I had the pleasure of attending Banana Republic's Summer Dress Collection Preview in New York. The folks at Banana Republic invited bloggers down to their Soho, NY location to preview what has come to be their summer dress collection. I'm all about the summer dress, so of course I stopped by to check out the new styles.

Though I don't normally frequent Banana Republic for dresses, I was pleasantly surprised to see a diverse collection of dresses from casual maxis to elegant silk sheaths perfect for summer weddings.

Banana Republic was kind enough to gift each guest with a summer dress of their own, so I ended up trying on a few styles to see which one fit best for me. See below for fit room flicks:

I fell in love with this tribal print Heritage Kensey dress ($139) once I glanced at it hanging on the rack. Love love love tribal print. Sadly, this dress was a size too large so I set it aside. I'll have to go back and pick one up in my size soon.

This one-shouldered gown was stunning as well. Loved the shape, not necessarily on me though. I need a little more support up top.

Ultimately I ended up with this Alicia silk printed patio dress ($140). It was my favorite of the bunch and seemed to be a favorite among the editors and bloggers present as both ladies in front and behind me in line had chosen the same style. This one's sure to be a bestseller this season.

I also had the opportunity to briefly chat with Banana Republic's Creative Director Simon Kneen. Watch the vid below to find out what he had to say about the summer dress collection:
